I think this is worse then a planned robbery by far. For something planned it can be stopped ahead of time or whatnot. A crime of opportunity can happen at any time and usually; unexpected. This makes them much worse.
In a crime of opportunity it shows someone's true colors. Having the option/choice of the right thing to do and the wrong, people usually pick the latter option/choice. If someone has to choose between giving someone back their money after they dropped it and just taking the money and run; everybody chooses the second choice. Little exceptions.
