In my personal opinion I think the value of journalism has dropped tremendously. As we all can see, most of journalism is about celebrities, weight loss, politics, and how to stay in shape. What about all the other sections of journalism? They're just as important yet never get the lime light, per-say. Like news about orphanages, animals (not celebrities), or even new anythings.
Whenever I see newspapers it's the same articles in every newspapers but different wording. Why would I want to read about just politics? Or care about what some celebrity is doing(EXCEPT DANIEL RADCLIFFE)? Whatever the case is I want to know about actual news that is important to the world.

Principle of Journalism: Be Accountable for Your Work
So out of the four choices to write about, I chose being accountable for your work. I think that this is the most important of all these choices because journalist need to realize they're accountable for their work. What would happen if people weren't accountable for their work? The world would just BOOM, explode with chaos and lawsuits. I mean no would be taking responsibility of their work, wether god nor bad.

Quote
I understand what the quote comes off as. The guy, Christopher Hitchens, doesn't want to go through a newspaper to get information. If you relate this to science, then it Christopher Hitchens is a Tertiary Consumer. A Tertiary Consumer eats something that ate something that ate a plant. So it's like Christopher Hitchens got news from the newspaper, that got it from some witness of a crime.
Christopher wants to go straight to the source instead of going through a newspaper and getting his own information. That's, from my understanding, why he'd want to be a journalist.
